Term 4 basic facts

We have been working on answering basic facts questions quickly and instantly. I should be working on Stage 5.

I am at Stage 4. I got 40 out of 60.

Pet Day

Today is our school pet day. We made vaseline saucers using flower petals. Here is my saucer.

Garden to Table

Today y I planted some seeds for Garden to Table.  We planted some capsicum, snow peas, basil , carrot and pumpkin.

We we had finished in the garden, we had a picnic and got to eat some yummy kai.  Here is a photo of Team Awa's picnic.

 

Science Fair.

Yesterday we had our school science fair. My science investigation was about the flight of paper planes.

Scientific Experiment Writing

B E G I N N I N G	TITLE	Balloon Hovercraft
	QUESTION	How does a hovercraft hover?
	HYPOTHESIS	I predict that it  will not fly up.

M I D D L E	EQUIPMENT  AND MATERIALS:	Water bottle cap CD Balloon
	PROCEDURE:	Step 1:using a hot glue gun, glue the bottle cap over the CD hole. Step 2: blow up the balloon. When it is fully inflated twist the end so no air comes out. Step 3: Stretch the balloon over the end of the bottle cap. Step 4: open up the cap end. Place the CD on the surface.  Step 5: untwist balloon and let go.
	OBSERVATIONS/RESULTS:	The CD moved around the table. The balloon lost all its air.

CONCLUSION:

The air from the balloon creates a cushion of moving air between the disc and the CV and reduces the friction across the surface.

Handwriting Term 2

Handwriting  this is my term 2 sample I am good at my numbers.

Maori

We have been learning to talk to each other in Maori. Here is a  conversation we recorded on Screencastify.

STEAM

We made some bugs in makerspace this week. I made my creatures out of wood and other materials.

Bug Hotel

We  made  a bug hotel  for the bugs  to  live  in.  The bug hotel is made out of bamboo and wood  and hay. We made the bug hotel so the bugs can live in the bug hotel and be safe.

Maths,

For maths we have been working in mixed ability groups to solve problems.
The focus has been solving word problems using place value.
We have to select the correct the correct strategy to solve the problem.
I have chosen two problems to show you how I work them out.

I find addition easy.

Coding

Today we have been learning how to make codes. We had to put 2 or 3 bombs in the grid and make the code the code for the pirate to get to the finish.

Christmas poem

We had to sketch a Christmas tree and as we sketched the tree we wrote about how we felt. We then wrote a poem. Here is my poem.

Handwriting Term 4

We have been learning to form our letters correctly and to use capital letters in the correct place.

I am good at writing my letters.

I need to get better at making sure my letters are on the line.

This  week we did a Basic facts test. I am good at adding to 10 and I need to work on my halves.
